Tickets and entries
Booking Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to every ticket purchased for the World Shortbread Championships, whether you are coming to watch or to compete.
Competitors are also bound by the Competition Entry Terms & Conditions.
1. Acceptance & changes
All tickets are sold subject to these Terms & Conditions. Purchasing a ticket confirms your acceptance. Terms may change without notice.
2. Ticket validity
Only valid ticket holders will be admitted. Keep your ticket with you at all times. Tickets may be invalidated if altered, defaced, or partially removed.
3. Ticket issues & refunds
Check your ticket upon receipt — errors may not be correctable later. Tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable unless explicitly permitted under our refund policy. If a refund is agreed, Booking / Transaction / Refund Protection fees are non-refundable.
4. Refund Protection option
At checkout, you may choose to purchase Refund Protection (provided by a third-party partner). This optional service allows you to claim a refund in certain unforeseen circumstances, as defined by the Refund Protection provider's terms.
- Refund Protection is not included by default and must be selected during purchase.
- If you opt to take the Refund Protection option, you agree that your personal details will be automatically shared with the third party for the purposes of the Refund Protection policy administration.
- Claims under Refund Protection are handled directly by the provider, not by High Life Highland.
- High Life Highland is not responsible for decisions made by the Refund Protection provider.
5. Ownership & transfer
Tickets are personal, non-transferable, revocable licences and remain the property of High Life Highland.
6. Unauthorised sales
We are not responsible for tickets bought from unauthorised sellers. Such tickets are void and may result in denied entry.
7. Commercial use
Tickets may not be used for promotions, competitions, or resale without written permission from High Life Highland.
8. Event changes
Event details, pricing, and availability may change. We may alter the programme without refund obligations. Timings are approximate and may overrun — plan accordingly.
9. Material alterations & cancellations
A "Material" change significantly alters the nature of the event. Minor changes (e.g. performer lineup, stallholders, weather) are not considered Material. In case of cancellation or Material change (which results in the need to issue refunds) refunds will be processed for the face value of any ticket(s) purchased, but any Booking / Transaction / Refund Protection fees will not be refunded. Travel and accommodation costs are your responsibility.
10. Entry requirements
You may be asked for photo ID at entry. HLH Member Discount tickets require a valid membership card.
11. Security & safety
Entry is subject to security checks. We may prohibit items deemed unsafe or disruptive.
12. Photography & media
Photos and videos may be taken during the event for media and marketing use. By attending, you consent to appearing in such materials.
13. Liability
Attendance is at your own risk. We are not liable for injury, loss, or damage to persons or property.
14. Force majeure
We are not liable for failure to perform due to events beyond our control (e.g. extreme weather, strikes, terrorism).
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by Scottish law. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish Courts.
