Entries are open for the first-ever World Shortbread Championships
Entries are open for the inaugural championships at Inverness Leisure on Saturday 21 November 2026, with places for junior, amateur and professional bakers in the Traditional and Specialist classes. Sarah Rankin hosts and Jeni Iannetta of Bad Girl Bakery leads the judging panel. Entries close on 30 September 2026.

Categories and host revealed for first World Shortbread Championships
High Life Highland names professional chef and broadcaster Sarah Rankin as host, and sets out the three baker categories — junior, amateur and professional — each able to enter a Traditional shortbread, a Specialist one, or both.

Shortbread World Champs — the countdown is on
A year out from championship day, High Life Highland announces that the Shortbread Showdown is growing into the World Shortbread Championships, with a new junior category for bakers under 16. Bakers have 365 days to perfect a recipe.
